Exploration of Hagen Fjord
[edit]In recounting the fatal last part of the journey by Mylius-Erichsen, Hagen, and Brønlund, the article states the following in respect of their travel towards Navy Cliff:
- But again the three dogsleds of the team entered a large unmapped fjord —the Hagen Fjord—that made them waste indispensable time.
This seems to be based on Amdrup's reconstruction of that journey, cited in the literature (page 213ff). At this time, it was not known that Ejnar Mikkelsen had recovered Mylius-Erichsen's notes in a cairn in Danmarks Fjord. These indicate that the explorers travelled straight from Cape Riksdagen to Academy Glacier, reaching it on June 1st. This had also been indicated in Brønlund's diary but discounted by Amdrup (page 204). Hagens Fjord and Brønlunds Fjord were only investigated on the way back. The record was set straight in an annex to Amdrup's report, see pages 471ff. -- Rz98 (talk) 21:03, 2 March 2021 (UTC)
